What can I expect from my first session?

In your first online counseling session, we will focus on establishing a comfortable and understanding environment.

Here’s what we'll cover:

We’ll explore your personal history and the factors motivating you to seek counseling. This is a crucial part of getting to know each other and setting the foundation for our work together.

Based on our discussion, we will help you create a personalized plan that outlines your therapeutic objectives and goals.

When can I schedule my sessions?

Appointments are available Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 8 PM, MST, and on Saturdays from 9 AM to 6 PM, MST. I encourage scheduling an online discovery call to ensure that my services align well with your needs.

How often will we meet?

The frequency of our online sessions can vary based on your needs and schedule. We can decide together what works best for you.

What is the typical duration for therapy?

Therapy duration can vary based on individual circumstances. Typically, we suggest a series of 8-12 sessions to foster a strong therapeutic relationship and achieve noticeable progress. Depending on your needs, we may continue with regular sessions or meet as needed during challenging periods.

Is everything we talk about confidential?

Confidentiality is fundamental in our sessions, providing a secure environment for open and honest dialogue. However, there are specific legal circumstances where confidentiality may be breached:

Court Orders and Legal Requirements: Confidentiality may be breached if there is a court subpoena for clinical counselor or client files, or in cases of suspected abuse of children or vulnerable populations that involve potential criminal actions. This includes situations compelled by both federal and provincial court subpoenas.

Risk of Harm: Confidentiality may be waived if a client expresses intent to harm themselves or others, indicating an immediate danger where any person's life or health is at risk.

Protection of Vulnerable Groups: If there is reasonable suspicion of current abuse or neglect of children, elderly persons, or vulnerable individuals, confidentiality may be breached in accordance with the laws of the province where I practice.

What is your approach to therapy?

My approach to therapy is built on compassion and centers entirely on you. Your unique needs and goals are my priority. I offer personalized therapy plans using a variety of evidence-based approaches. Cultural sensitivity is central to my work as we explore your thoughts, emotions, and their impact on behavior. 

Are there assignments outside of sessions?

To maximize the benefits of therapy, I may provide supportive materials and suggest activities outside of our sessions. These assignments, which I refer to as "growth activities," are designed to deepen your understanding and facilitate personal development. These tasks are always optional and tailored to your comfort level.

How can I manage emergencies or immediate distress?

For emergencies, please dial 911 or contact your local emergency services. For immediate distress, we can discuss coping mechanisms during our sessions.

60-Minute Counselling Session: $130

90-Minute Counseling Session: $195

Acceptable Payment Methods: Interac e-Transfer. We do not accept checks/cheques.


Sliding Scale Availability:

If you are concerned about the ability to pay, please inquire about my sliding scale options, which adjust the session fees based on your financial situation.

Insurance Information:

Please verify your health insurance coverage for counselling services by contacting your provider directly. Currently, direct billing is not available; however, receipts are provided for you to claim reimbursement if your plan covers our services.

Credentials

I am a Certified Professional Counsellor, holding a RPC-C designation with the Canadian Professional Counselors Association (CPCA), registration number 4630.

All receipts provided will include this registration number, suitable for insurance claims where applicable.

In addition to my counseling certification, I am a Certified AI Consultant and hold certifications in various coaching domains, including Career & Vocation, Professional Life, Life Skills, Disaster Recovery, and Strategic Intervention. This diverse expertise allows me to tailor my support precisely to your needs.
